Important Reminders

iPad Charging
Please ensure that your child is plugging in their iPad when they get home and charging it overnight. We have had an issue with a large group of learners in each class coming to school with their iPad dead. This makes charging at the same time hard and distancing even harder. We would love your help with iPads arriving at school charged.

HEADPHONES!
We have lots of kiddos who have lost/broken headphones. Please make sure that your child has a working pair of headphones for school.

What are we learning?

Math: This week learners will compose and decompose numbers up to 1,000 in more than one way. Don't forget to keep up with your weekly DreamBox and Reflex Math requirements. Wanting to learn more about what it means to compose and decompose to support your child, click here.

Language Arts: In Reading Workshop we will learn the important things to include when you are retelling a nonfiction book. Please remember to keep up with your weekly iStation requirements and your Reading Logs!

In Writing Workshop we are writing non-fiction books, clearing up any confusion so that the readers are not left with questions. In Grammar, we will continue using strong verbs in our writing.

Science: This week learners will investigate the way light energy affects objects. They will record and organize data about the effects of light energy in pictures and words.

Social Studies: In Social Studies we will continue our exploration of US symbols and landmarks.

CISD is conducting the Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) test. This assessment will help measure growth and skill mastery for learners kindergarten-9th grade. Both in-person and distance TCE 2nd graders will be taking this assessment next week. The assessment will take place on Monday, September 28th, and Tuesday, September 29th first thing in the morning.

Face to face families we ask that you make sure your child is on time and has their iPad FULLY charged on Monday and Tuesday. This will help to make sure they are set up for success during their MAP assessment.

Week at a Glance
As our second graders have become experts within Schoology, we are going to move our week at a glance to be a visual schedule tool.
