Spring Conferences
It is hard to believe that we are already in our last nine weeks of the school year. Time has flown by so quickly with these amazing learners! Spring conferences are optional and we do not have a designated conference day like in prior years but we are happy to make time to answer any questions or concerns you may have. You recently received your child's third nine weeks report card, which provided you with an update on how your child is doing in class. If you would like to schedule an optional spring conference, either by phone or zoom, please email your child's homeroom teacher. We are also happy to answer any questions you may have by email as well!

What are we learning?

Math: In math, learners will find the length of objects using concrete models for standard units of length. Learners will determine the length of an object to the nearest marked unit using rulers, yardsticks, meter sticks, or measuring tapes. We will also describe the inverse relationship between the size of the unit and the number of units needed to equal the length of an object.

Language Arts: In Reading Workshop this week, learners will take the May iStation assessment and fluency check. We will also begin a novel study of The BFG.

In Writing Workshop this week, learners will begin working on a nonfiction writing using one of the animal topics we have been reading about over the past 5 weeks. We will also be looking at some vocabulary from The BFG and working on our cursive handwriting.

Science: In science, learners will identify the parts of a plant and describe the purpose they serve. Face-to-face learners will be helping out in the TCE garden this week, pulling weeds and watering plants.

Social Studies: In Social Studies learners will continue to explore how people earn, spend, and save money in a real-world context.
