Parent Newsletter
Ms. Martin shares out our campus newsletter via email each Friday. Make sure to read her newsletter for information regarding campus news. This week's newsletter can be found linked here.

Parent Book Club
Our counselor and librarian will be facilitating a parent book club this Spring in the Town Center library, and we would love for you to attend! It will be a great time to get to know and collaborate with other parents. The book study will start towards the end of March and go through April. It will be a total of five sessions, with each session lasting one hour. All participants will receive a free copy of the book, and it will be yours to keep. If you are interested in attending/learning more, fill out the link below. This will help our facilitators pick the day that works best for everyone and gauge interest in the book club.

Book Fair Volunteers

Lions, and Tigers and Books Oh My! Our Spring book fair is March 2nd - 6th, and would love to have parents volunteer. Please sign up on the link below.

Second Grade Field Trip
Second grade will be traveling to the Perot Museum on Thursday, April 30th. The cost of the field trip for each child will be $12 including museum entrance and bus coverage. Please return the permission slip and cash or check by Friday, March 6th. If you are interested in chaperoning, please reach out to your child's homeroom teacher. The cost of chaperone tickets is $6. You will be responsible for your own transportation and parking fee.

What are we learning?

Math: In math this week, learners will model, create, and describe contextual multiplication and division situations to show mastery of understanding.

Language Arts: In reading, learners will be analyzing characters in their books and describing their characteristic traits (inside and outside). In writing, learners will be brainstorming and writing about space to integrate with what they are learning in science. In grammar, learners will practice spelling words with the long vowel sounds.

Science: In science, learners will finish their study on observing, describing, and recording patterns of objects in the sky, including the appearance of the Moon.

Social Studies: In social studies, learners will learn about producers and consumers as well as the difference between goods and services.

Language Arts: In reading, learners will compare characters in series books. In writing, learners will learn the five parts of a letter and practice writing friendly letters. In grammar, learners will practice strategies for writing bigger words.
Science: In science, learners will finish their study on observing, describing, and recording patterns of objects in the sky, including the appearance of the Moon.

Social Studies: In social studies, learners will talk about how to reduce, reuse, and recycle.

TCE Cultural Night & Art Show
Mark your calendars and join us for our third annual cultural night! If you are interested in sharing more about your culture or a food sample to share please visit this link. Our art program will also host an art show in the gym during our cultural celebration. More information on the graphics below. 


Valentine's Day Party
Our second grade Valentine's day party will be on Thursday, February 13th at 2 pm. If your child would like, they may make Valentines or bring cards. Please make sure he or she bring one for each person in the class. The names of students in your child's homeroom have been sent home. Due to allergies please make sure all treats are peanut/tree nut-free. Students may decorate and bring a box or a bag from home to hold their valentines. You are welcome to join us for the party!

What are we learning?

Math: In math this week, learners will continue to generate and solve problems situations for a given mathematical number sentence involving addition and subtraction of whole numbers within 1,000.

Language Arts: In reading, learners will compare books and notice when authors play with words. In writing, learners will continue to write poems and work on writing their own comparisons. In grammar, learners will practice capitalizing names.

Science: In science, learners will begin to observe, describe, and record patterns of objects in the sky, including the appearance of the Moon.

Social Studies: In social studies, learners will continue studying maps and symbols.
