CISD Family/Schools Relationships Survey Due by May 16th
Each semester, CISD surveys our families on their relationships with their child’s school. The Spring 2025 Family/Schools Relationship Survey is open now through Friday, May 16th. To participate, visit go.coppellisd.com/Spring25FamilySurvey, then select your child(ren)’s school. If you have multiple children in CISD, we ask that you take the survey for each school your child attends in order for the schools to have feedback that is specific to them. Campus administrators are able to view the data from each parent survey, along with district administrators.
Please email input@coppellisd.com, if you would like to share any additional feedback or insight not covered in the survey or have any additional comments to share with the district.
Coppell Cares
Coppell Cares offers the Weekend Backpack Program for families who have financial need. Each Friday, learners receive a bag of snacks for the weekend. The goal of the program is to help eliminate food insecurity for children. They provide nutritious breakfast, lunch, and snack items to eligible CISD children (and siblings). This weekly food program helps feed children over the weekend during the school year when they are not receiving meals at school.
If you would like your child(ren) to participate in this program, please complete the online application below. If you would prefer a paper copy to be sent home with your child, please email TCE's counselor, Kelly Matlock at kmatlock@coppellisd.com. Families may sign up for this program at any time during the school year. Deliveries will begin Friday, September 6th. Deliveries will be suspended for Thanksgiving week, Winter Break, and Spring Break.

We are excited to have so many of our learners that have been out sick back at school. We'd love to meet our campus attendance goal of 97%, and we will keep you all updated weekly on our progress. As a reminder, if your child is sick, we want them to stay home and rest. Our district attendance policy states, "Students must be free of fever, vomiting, and/or diarrhea for 24 hours without the use of medication before returning to school.” Otherwise, we'd love to have them at school in order to maximize their instructional time with teachers and make the most of their school days. If your child does need to miss school due to being sick, please reach out to your child's teacher to find out what work they need to make up.
Math Workshop - In math workshop, learners will use concrete models to find the area of a rectangle by covering it with square units and leaving no gaps or overlaps. Learners can count to find the total number of square units. Learners will be able to describe the area of a rectangle using a number and a unit of measurement.
Reading Workshop - Our readers have been practicing our compare and contrast skills in order to better understand informational texts. We are excited to see how far they have grown as we work on our end of the year assessments and get ready for 3rd grade!
Writing Workshop - In Writing, we will be finalizing their drafts and starting to create their projects this week.
Social Studies - In Social Studies, learners will explain the choices people make about earning, saving, and spending money.
Science - In Science, learners will compare and describe the stages in the life cycles of a butterfly, frog, and amphibians.
- Ask your child how centimeters and meters are related. How many centimeters in a meter? What are some items you would measure in centimeters? What are some items you would measure using meters?
- Ask your child what the word estimate means. How did they use estimating in measurement this week?
- Tell me about your caterpillar. What stage is it in? Can you show be your daily observations?
- Ask your child what animal they picked for their writing projects.
- Why is it important to budget your money?
- Working on reading high frequency words fluently is a great way to build reading skills!
