December 11th - Early Release Day
CISD has designated Friday, December 11th, as an early dismissal day for all educators and staff to have additional planning time to meet the needs of our students. Elementary schools will release at 12:30 p.m. Please make pick-up arrangements for your child.

Together at Heart Day
On Thursday, December 17th our entire school will participate in "Together at Heart Day". This a day where we will focus on service learning and helping those in our community that are in need. We will be making cards and holiday door decorations for the residents at St. Joseph Village in Coppell. All second graders can join their homeroom zoom from 9:30-11:00 am for rotations going through instructions for the different creations we will be making for St. Josephs. If you are a virtual learner we will provide all of the supplies needed and you can pick them up on Wednesday, December 16th from 8:00-9:00 a.m. by the front of the school building! After we finish Together at Heart Day we will have a drop off bin for the finished creations at the front of the school during school hours on Thursday (12/17) and Friday (12/18). Second grade has partnered with Ms. Matlock to deliver all of our creations to St. Josephs.

Food and Toy Drive
Kindergarten and First Grade will be working with the Coppell Lions Club to coordinate a food and toy drive at Town Center. This will help to provide food and toys for more than 100 Coppell families during the holidays. We'd love for our learners in grades K-5 to bring canned food items and/or a new, unwrapped toy to donate starting December 1st through December 15th. If you are a face-to-face learner, you may drop your items by the TCE Giving Tree in the front of the school, and canned foods can be put in the boxes at the end of each hallway. Virtual learners may call the front office at 214-496-7800 to make arrangements to drop off your donation in the front loop during school hours. THANK YOU for your support.

Town Center Yearbooks
Our 2020-2021 Town Center Yearbook is now available for purchase. The cost is $25, and they will arrive in the spring. Click here to place your order. **Please note that the yearbook cost is NOT included in the TCE Trail Pass.

What are we learning?

Math: This week in math we will finish solving word problems involving addition and subtraction within 1000 using strategies based on place value. We will generate and solve problem situations involving the addition and subtraction of whole numbers within 1000.

If you are looking for additional resources to support your child in practicing addition and subtraction problems at home, please click here to find a folder of practice problems to print for home. Videos for the different strategies taught in class can be found here.

Please check out Greg Tang Math for a word problem generator to support your child with addition and subtraction at home. We are working with numbers from 1-1,000.

Language Arts: In Reading Workshop we will participate in a LIVE reader's theater on Zoom called "Reindeer Names". This is a fun way to practice reading orally using good expression. Please check LIVE Zoom times next week! Please remember to keep up with your weekly iStation requirement and your Reading Logs!

In Writing Workshop learners will "publish" their favorite Edge of the Seat story. They will also have some fun creating stories by rolling dice.

On Monday, December 7th, we will conclude our mClass literacy assessments with an online portion for spelling and maze. Important Reminders - Face to Face

iPad Charging
Please ensure that your child is plugging in their iPad when they get home and charging it overnight. We have had an issue with a large group of learners in each class coming to school with their iPad dead. This makes charging at the same time hard and distancing even harder. We would love your help with iPads arriving at school charged.

HEADPHONES!
We have lots of kiddos who have lost/broken headphones. Please make sure that your child has a working pair of headphones for school.

Literacy Assessment
Next Tuesday, December 1st, students in 2B and 2D will be taking some Langauge Arts assessments.  These quick assessments will help target reading instruction in the classroom.

Your child will meet one-on-one with their Math teacher for about 15 minutes on Zoom. They will use the regular Zoom link they use for all Math lessons. Please see the schedule in the Homeroom Hub for your child's time. This will be posted sometime Monday afternoon (11/30).

Please have your children access the Zoom about 5 minutes before their assigned time and remain in the Waiting Room until their teacher lets them in (sometimes things run a little late!) Your child will need their microphone unmuted the entire assessment so help them find a quiet space to take their assessment on Zoom.

Spirit Night at JC's Burger Bar
This Friday, November 20th, JC's Burger Bar in Coppell is donating 20% of their full-day sales from Town Center families and friends to our school. Whether you dine in or pick up (including curbside pick-up), as long as you mention that you are there supporting Town Center, your purchase will qualify. So, whether it is lunch, dinner, or a snack in between, we hope you can join us in supporting Town Center and great food!

Holiday Assistance
Every year the Lion's Club of Coppell provides food and toy support to those in need. If you could benefit from this assistance during the winter holidays, please complete the attached form and fill out the information as accurately as possible. If you are unable to print out the form, you may email the information directly to our counselor, Ms. Matlock at kmatlock@coppellisd.com and she can help you complete the form. Or, please email to request a paper copy of the form be sent home with your child(ren). If your child(ren) are virtual learners and you would like to pick up a paper copy of the form, please call the front office to arrange for a curbside pick-up. The form is due Friday, December 4th.
