3rd Nine Weeks Commitment Form Information
Our third nine weeks commitment form process began on Monday, November 30th. Parents and guardians received an email from the district on November 30th. You only fill out the form if you are changing your current (second nine-week grading period) learning mode. The deadline for this form is December 9th at 11:59 p.m. The third grading period begins on January 6, 2021. Please note CISD continues to remain committed to providing our families with the choice of in-person and remote learning for their children.

December 11th - Early Release Day
CISD has designated Friday, December 11th, as an early dismissal day for all educators and staff to have additional planning time to meet the needs of our students. Elementary schools will release at 12:30 p.m. Please make pick-up arrangements for your child.

mClass Literacy Assessments
On Monday, December 7th, we will conclude our mClass literacy assessments with an online portion for spelling and maze. You will receive an email with your child's login information (in person learners will not be receiving one) and a video on how to access the assessments. This will need to be completed first thing Monday after the morning meeting and should not take any longer than 15 minutes. Please do not help your child as this needs to be an accurate reflection of their abilities. If you have any questions, please reach out to your child's homeroom teacher.

Food and Toy Drive
Kindergarten and First Grade will be working with the Coppell Lions Club to coordinate a food and toy drive at Town Center. This will help to provide food and toys for more than 100 Coppell families during the holidays. We'd love for our learners in grades K-5 to bring canned food items and/or a new, unwrapped toy to donate starting December 1st through December 15th. If you are a face-to-face learner, you may drop your items by the TCE Giving Tree in the front of the school, and canned foods can be put in the boxes at the end of each hallway. Virtual learners may call the front office at 214-496-7800 to make arrangements to drop off your donation in the front loop during school hours. THANK YOU for your support.

Town Center Yearbooks
Our 2020-2021 Town Center Yearbook is now available for purchase. The cost is $25, and they will arrive in the spring. Click here to place your order. **Please note that the yearbook cost is NOT included in the TCE Trail Pass.

Important Reminders - Virtual Learners
Please remember that ALL submissions need to be made each day by 11:59 pm. This includes all courses: math, language arts, science, social studies, and specials.

Important Reminders - Face to Face

iPad Charging
Please ensure that your child is plugging in their iPad when they get home and charging it overnight. We have had an issue with a large group of learners in each class coming to school with their iPad dead. This makes charging at the same time hard and distancing even harder. We would love your help with iPads arriving at school charged.

HEADPHONES!
We have lots of kiddos who have lost/broken headphones. Please make sure that your child has a working pair of headphones for school.

What are we learning?

Math: This week in math we will continue to solve word problems involving addition and subtraction within 1000 using strategies based on place value. We will generate and solve problem situations involving the addition and subtraction of whole numbers within 1000.

If you are looking for additional resources to support your child in practicing addition and subtraction problems at home, please click here to find a folder of practice problems to print for home. Videos for the different strategies taught in class can be found here.

Please check out Greg Tang Math for a word problem generator to support your child with addition and subtraction at home. We are working with numbers from 1-1,000.

Language Arts: In Reading Workshop we will continue looking at fictional stories that integrate with our Social Studies Ethnic and Cultural Celebrations unit. We will also incorporate the use of reading strategies to help us with comprehension. Please remember to keep up with your weekly iStation requirements and your Reading Logs!

In Writing Workshop we will set writing goals and work on making our short stories better.

Science: This week in science we will identify and demonstrate how to use, conserve, and dispose of natural resources.

Social Studies: In Social Studies we will continue our unit on Ethic and Cultural Celebrations. We will explore holidays from around the world including Diwali, Ramadan, Chinese New Year, Hanukkah, Christmas, Day of the Dead, and Kwanzaa.
