Literacy Assessment
Next Tuesday, December 1st, students in 2B and 2D will be taking some Langauge Arts assessments.  These quick assessments will help target reading instruction in the classroom.

Your child will meet one-on-one with their Math teacher for about 15 minutes on Zoom. They will use the regular Zoom link they use for all Math lessons. Please see the schedule in the Homeroom Hub for your child's time. This will be posted sometime Monday afternoon (11/30).

Please have your children access the Zoom about 5 minutes before their assigned time and remain in the Waiting Room until their teacher lets them in (sometimes things run a little late!) Your child will need their microphone unmuted the entire assessment so help them find a quiet space to take their assessment on Zoom.

Spirit Night at JC's Burger Bar
This Friday, November 20th, JC's Burger Bar in Coppell is donating 20% of their full-day sales from Town Center families and friends to our school. Whether you dine in or pick up (including curbside pick-up), as long as you mention that you are there supporting Town Center, your purchase will qualify. So, whether it is lunch, dinner, or a snack in between, we hope you can join us in supporting Town Center and great food!

Holiday Assistance
Every year the Lion's Club of Coppell provides food and toy support to those in need. If you could benefit from this assistance during the winter holidays, please complete the attached form and fill out the information as accurately as possible. If you are unable to print out the form, you may email the information directly to our counselor, Ms. Matlock at kmatlock@coppellisd.com and she can help you complete the form. Or, please email to request a paper copy of the form be sent home with your child(ren). If your child(ren) are virtual learners and you would like to pick up a paper copy of the form, please call the front office to arrange for a curbside pick-up. The form is due Friday, December 4th.

Important Reminders - Virtual Learners
Please remember that ALL submissions need to be made each day by 11:59 pm. This includes all courses: math, language arts, science, social studies, and specials.

Important Reminders - Face to Face

iPad Charging
Please ensure that your child is plugging in their iPad when they get home and charging it overnight. We have had an issue with a large group of learners in each class coming to school with their iPad dead. This makes charging at the same time hard and distancing even harder. We would love your help with iPads arriving at school charged.

HEADPHONES!
We have lots of kiddos who have lost/broken headphones. Please make sure that your child has a working pair of headphones for school.

Food and Toy Drive
Kindergarten and First Grade will be working with the Coppell Lions Club to coordinate a food and toy drive at Town Center. This will help to provide food and toys for more than 100 Coppell families during the holidays. We'd love for our learners in grades K-5 to bring canned food items and/or a new, unwrapped toy to donate starting December 1st through December 15th. If you are a face-to-face learner, you may drop your items by the TCE Giving Tree in the front of the school, and canned foods can be put in the boxes at the end of each hallway. Virtual learners may call the front office at 214-496-7800 to make arrangements to drop off your donation in the front loop during school hours. THANK YOU for your support.

Box Tops for Education
We'd love for all of our TCE staff and families to join us in raising money for our school through the Box Tops for Education App. It's a great way to earn money from an activity you already do each week. Please watch the video below to see how you can get started. It's easy as downloading the free app and scanning your receipts! You can also invite your extended family and friends to join you in raising money for TCE.

Town Center Yearbooks
Our 2020-2021 Town Center Yearbook is now available for purchase. The cost is $25, and they will arrive in the spring. Click here to place your order. **Please note that the yearbook cost is NOT included in the TCE Trail Pass.

What are we learning?

Math: This week we will solve word problems involving addition and subtraction within 1000 using strategies based on place value. We will generate and solve problem situations involving the addition and subtraction of whole numbers within 1000.

Language Arts: In Reading Workshop we will look at fictional stories that integrate with our Social Studies Ethnic and Cultural Celebrations unit. We will also incorporate the use of reading strategies to help us with comprehension. Please remember to keep up with your weekly iStation requirements and your Reading Logs!

In Writing Workshop we will continue our unit on how to write "Edge of the Seat" realistic fiction stories. We will also review how to write a Small Moment and the elements of narrative writing.

Science: This week we will distinguish between natural and manmade resources.

Social Studies: In Social Studies we will begin our unit on Ethic and Cultural Celebrations. We will explore holidays from around the world including Diwali, Ramadan, Chinese New Year, Hanukkah, Christmas, Day of the Dead, and Kwanzaa.
