TCE Dance Party FundraiserSecond grade families! We're almost there! Our TCE Dance Party fundraiser kicks off in one week. We've already gotten donations to help our school! As a reminder, our goal is to raise $12,000 for classroom grants and materials to support our school. Are you ready to be the top fundraising grade?
Here are 3 things we can do to help our school through this fundraiser:2. Share about our fundraiser with your family and friends using the SHARE TOOLS3. Give a donation if you are able to; though all students will participate regardless of financial participation
There's also this very cool video call the Student Star Video that you can create for your student on the funrun.com website. You'll have to see for yourself, but you upload a photo of your child and they become part of the video. It's a great item to share with your friends and family when seeking their support.
Thanks again for your support!

PE Zoom Schedule ChangeCoach T and Coach Fidler have changed their weekly zoom schedule for PE. All 2nd-grade virtual learners will have their PE zoom every Wednesday during their specials time (1:10). All sections will be zooming together and this schedule will continue through the end of the year. Please reach out to Coach T or Coach Fidler if you have any questions.
Spring ConferencesIt is hard to believe that we are already in our last nine weeks of the school year. Time has flown by so quickly with these amazing learners! Spring conferences are optional and we do not have a designated conference day like in prior years but we are happy to make time to answer any questions or concerns you may have. You recently received your child's third nine weeks report card, which provided you with an update on how your child is doing in class. If you would like to schedule an optional spring conference, either by phone or zoom, please email your child's homeroom teacher. We are also happy to answer any questions you may have by email as well!

What are we learning?
Math: In math, learners will explain that the more fractional parts used to make a whole, the smaller the part; and the fewer the fractional parts, the larger the whole. Learners will also use models to count fractional parts beyond one whole using words and recognize how many parts it takes to equal one whole.
Language Arts: In Reading Workshop this week, learners will finish our nonfiction books club unit. We will read the book Fireflies and have comprehension activities that go with the book.
In Writing Workshop this week, learners will continue to review the different types of writing that we have learned this year: narrative, informational, opinion, procedural by addressing prompts for the day.
Science: In science, learners will the parts of a variety of animals and describe the purpose they serve. On Thursday, we will take a virtual field trip on Zoom to the San Diago Zoo!
Social Studies: In Social Studies learners will continue to explore how people earn, spend, and save money in a real-world context.
