Breakfast

Just like our school lunches, breakfast is also free, throughout the 2021-2022 school year. We love for our second graders to enjoy breakfast, as it starts off their day with their brains and bodies fueled! However, our ask is that if your child is planning on eating breakfast, please plan on having them arrive between 7:20-7:25. Our learning day begins promptly at 7:40 and we don't want any of our kiddos missing out on the amazing learning happening in the classroom. If your child arrives between 7:20-7:25 they will have enough time to eat their breakfast in the cafeteria before heading down to the classroom.

Teacher Training

This next week we wanted to make you aware that we will have some subs in second grade Tuesday-Friday due to state-mandated teacher training. If your child has a change of schedule, please make sure to email ALL of us (ktrueblood@coppellisd.com, abowman@coppellisd.com, AND hjudd@coppellisd.com). Our campus leadership has worked hard on the training days to ensure that each day at least one of the second-grade homeroom teachers will be in the classroom. Thank you for your understanding and patience!

SSO Login

If your child is wanting to access the educational apps that we discussed during curriculum night they should be able to through the red SSO app on their iPad home screen. They will use their CISD login (ex: abc1234) and their unique password. As a reminder, please do not assist your child with these programs. We want to make sure that they are working at their independent level so that their data is not skewed, especially when we do work on these programs independently in the classroom.

Parent Square
If you have not had a chance please make sure that you have your ParentSquare account set up and the notifications turned on. It is helpful to also download the app and connect your phone to receive text updates. All grade level communication, mass campus communication, and communication from the district are sent through ParentSquare.

Curriculum Night

Thank you to all of our second-grade families that joined us last night for curriculum night! If you were unable to attend, we have shared out the recorded video link in ParentSquare in our Friday communication on September 3rd. We have included our slides below from the presentation. All questions we received were addressed in the slides below and the video recording that has been sent out.

Book Fair

This fall we have both in-person and online options for purchasing books from our Scholastic Book Fair. Due to our current visitor policy and to provide a way for our virtual learners to purchase as well, we are excited about the online option in addition to our face-to-face book fair. Please see below important information:

Teacher Wishlists:

Due to not having visitors in the building, we will not have our usual teacher wishlist buckets at the Book Fair. In place of our teacher wishlist, TCE teachers have created an eWallet for each classroom in place of teacher wishlists. This gives families the optional opportunity to donate funds to teacher accounts so that teachers may shop for books to be used in their classrooms.

2A Mrs. Trueblood's Link

2B Mrs. Bowman's Link

2C Mrs. Judd's Link

Book Fair Online Shopping - Opens Thursday, September 2nd!

 - Visit this link to purchase books that will be shipped directly to your house.

- Both in-person and virtual learners can choose this option.

Shopping in the TCE Library - Begins, Tuesday, September 7th

- For in-person learners only (families/visitors will not be able to attend)

- We encourage you to use the eWallet feature. Instead of sending cash with your child, you can create an eWallet account and place a predetermined amount of money on the account for your child(ren) to shop the Book Fair in person. To create an eWallet go to this link.

Thank you for supporting book choice and TCE!

iPads

If you are not returning to the district next year, please make sure to send your child with their iPad and charger on Monday, so we can collect them. Monday, May 24th - Field Day!
Virtual Learners:
All of the Field Day activities will be in your PE course in Schoology! If you have one, wear your red TCE 2nd Grade Shirt to show your Second Grade spirit!

We will only have our morning meeting on Zoom Monday morning at 8:00. The rest of the day your child will be working through their PE course.

Face to Face Learners:
Please send your child in their red Second Grade T-shirt (or a red t-shirt) and in comfy shoes, they don't mind getting wet!

Please also send a change of dry clothes (including underwear) - we have a few events planned with some water (not enough to wear a swimsuit - but enough to get a little wet!), and they will probably want dry clothes to go home in.

Finally, please send a water bottle with your child's name! We don't want to get too hot on Monday!

Tuesday, May 25th
Virtual Learners:
Please drive through the front loop between 7:45-8:30 to pick up your party supplies for our last day of school party. If you are unable to make this time, please call the front office to schedule a time to pick up supplies.

Our second grade room parents wanted to let you know that they will be playing some "cup games" along with their friends at school, and they will need to have access to a stack of plastic, solo-type cups at home to play along. (These cups with NOT be included in their party bag) They will be building cup towers, flipping cups, etc. so any size will work. The face to face learners will be using 18 oz size cups.

Face to Face Learners:
If your child purchased a 2020-2021 yearbook, please have them bring it to school on Tuesday. We will have time to sign yearbooks during the day. If your child did not purchase a yearbook, no worries! We will have memory books for learners to sign in place of yearbooks.

We will have some time to play board games on Tuesday in class. If your child would like, they may bring a board game (no technology, no iPads, etc) to school labeled with their name. Please limit to one board game per child.

Wednesday, May 26th

We can't wait to celebrate our last day of school with you! We will have our Second Grade End of the Year Party at 9:45 am.

Virtual Learners:
You will pick-up all of your party supplies on Tuesday, May 25th. Please plan to get cups (not included in your supplies) to play along with some of our party games prior to the party.
