Week of August 23rd - 27th

Welcome to second grade! We are so excited about an exciting year of learning together. Here are a few important dates and information about the start of school. Each week we will update you on what we are learning!

iPads

All 2nd graders should now have a CISD iPad for learning. We will begin to use these next week. Please help us out this weekend by making sure the iPad software is updated and comes to school each day fully charged. Depending on what year your child came to CISD the code to get in the iPad should be 1920, 2021, or 2122. Please do not change this code! If you do not have an iPad, please reach out to your homeroom teacher.

Writing Journals

On Thursday, August 19th your child should have brought home a blank journal. It will become their special Writing Journal for the year. Mrs. Trueblood has asked your child to decorate the cover - There is something special about creating a notebook that is personal, that creates a spark of excitement, interest, and enthusiasm for writing!

Please send writing journals back to school on Monday, August 23rd.

Snacks

2nd grade will have a short snack time each day, while we work, to keep our brains and bodies fueled for learning. In order to ensure a safe classroom environment for everyone, we ask that you please DO NOT send any snacks that contain peanuts/tree nuts. Please send a small, healthy snack (ex: fruit, cereal, crackers, goldfish, applesauce pouch, etc.) each day that does not require a fork or spoon to eat. Additionally, please send a water bottle with a sport (no spill) top daily.

Back to School Guide

Have more questions? Principal Martin shared her 2021-2022 Back to School Guide through ParentSquare on Monday, August 9th. She covers all of the details that you're family needs to be set up for success for a great back-to-school season.
