Parent Book Club
Our counselor and librarian will be facilitating a parent book club this Spring in the Town Center library, and we would love for you to attend! It will be a great time to get to know and collaborate with other parents. The book study will start towards the end of March and go through April. It will be a total of five sessions, with each session lasting one hour. All participants will receive a free copy of the book, and it will be yours to keep. If you are interested in attending/learning more, fill out the link below. This will help our facilitators pick the day that works best for everyone and gauge interest in the book club.
More information about the book can be found on Ms. Martin's campus newsletter.

Second Grade Field Trip
We are grateful for the many second grade parents willing to chaperone our second-grade field trip to the Perot Museum on Thursday, April 30th. Please remember that you must have a CISD background check for the 2019-2020 school year on file in order to attend. You may create an account and fill out a background request by visiting the CISD website volunteering page. If you are unsure if you have a background check on file, please reach out to your child's homeroom teacher.
Multiplication and Division Practice
Our second-grade mathematicians have just finished up their first unit showing a basic understanding of the foundations of multiplication and division by modeling, creating, and describing contextual multiplication and division situations. If you are looking for resources to support this learning at home we have gathered resources that may be found linked here.

Miss McGraw
Our wonderful second-grade teacher, Ms. McGraw, is getting married over spring break! She will be out of the classroom March 16th-20th. If you are a 2A/2B parent, you may contact Mrs. Bowman (abowman@coppellisd.com) if you need something addressed during this time. Any message that is time-sensitive that may need to be passed along to your child can be relayed to the front office. Best wishes to Ms. McGraw on her special day and we look forward to her return, March 23rd!

What are we learning?
Math: In math this week, learners begin to classify 2D and 3D shapes based on attributes and use written and oral language to justify the classification. Learners create 2D shapes with specific attributes. Learners compose 2D and 3D shapes and decompose 2D shapes.
Language Arts: In reading, learners will be practicing sequencing stories as well as visualization. In writing, learners will use graphic organizers to practice writing opinion pieces of writing. In grammar, learners will continue to practice spelling words with the long vowel sounds.
Science: In science, learners observe, describe, and compare rocks by size, texture, and color.
As we begin our study about rocks, we will be learning how rocks are alike and how they are different. In order to do this, we will be sorting rocks by color, texture, size, etc. Please help your child find three rocks, put them in a Ziploc bag, and return them to school by Tuesday, March 17th. IT would be best if each of these rocks were different from each other in some way. For example different sizes, shapes, colors, etc. You are welcome t send in a small rock or mineral collection if you have one. Thank you for helping your child find their rocks for this sorting activity!
Social Studies: In social studies, learners will learn jobs and income.
