Background Checks
If you have not had a chance please fill out a background check for the 2019-2020 school year. CISD is using a new application and background check process for all volunteers in the district using the same software used for employee background checks. These can take up to 10 days to process and we would love for you to fill out one now so that you are already cleared for any future volunteer/visiting opportunities. Visit coppellisd.com/volunteer to fill out a background check today!

Gifted and Talented Screening
Heather Bass is our campus gifted and talented intervention services specialist. If you have any questions regarding her intervention services or screening after viewing the video below direct them to Mrs. Bass (hbass@coppellisd.com). The video linked here will outline the screening process in second grade.

What are we learning?

Math: In math this week, learners will develop and use strategies and methods for whole number computations in order to recall basic facts to add and subtract within 20 with automaticity.

Reading: In reading workshop this week, learners will work on using metacognition as they read, using what the author says and their own thoughts to comprehend the text. They will reflect on their reading by journaling and writing quick notes on post-its. In writing workshop, learners will continue to work on goal setting and revising their personal narrative (small moment) stories.

Science: In science, will continue to compare changes in materials caused by heating and cooling. We will also begin exploring the relative mass of various objects.

Social Studies: In social studies this week, learners will finish their research on the citizenship qualities of historical figures, and present their findings to the class.
