Terrific Texans

Throughout the week our learners at TCE are working hard at going above and beyond! When any teacher catches them standing out in a positive way they are awarded a Terrific Texan. At the end of the week, there is a school-wide drawing and 3 winners are chosen from each grade level. Here's a photo of this week's winners!

Start With Hello

We are excited to launch Start with Hello Week at Town Center from September 18th to 22nd!

Program Overview

The Start With Hello program empowers students in grades K-12 to recognize loneliness and social isolation in their peers, offering effective strategies to reach out and help, and ways they can grow an empathetic and inclusive community. The program is designed around three goals that are accomplished using the program's framework and reinforced throughout the program cycle.

Goals

The three goals of the Start With Hello program are to teach students how to:
- Recognize loneliness and social isolation in peers.
- Help their peers who may be lonely and/or socially isolated.
- Grow an empathetic and inclusive community.

Program Framework

The goals are accomplished using our three-step program framework:
1. See Someone Alone: Learn how to recognize social isolation and loneliness.
2. Reach Out and Help: Learn the benefits of helping peers who are lonely or socially isolated as well as strategies to overcome challenges.
3. Start With Hello: Learn ways to help peers who are lonely and socially isolated as well as help create a more connected and inclusive community.

Check out the graphic below to learn more about how we will reinforce these skills at TCE this year! 💚

Curriculum Night

Thank you to all our families who were able to make it out to curriculum night! We loved sharing with you all that we are learning in second grade. If you were unable to make it, you can check out our presentation linked below. As always, please feel free to reach out to your child's teacher if you have any questions or concerns. We are more than happy to help out and answer in any way that we can!

Shout out to our second-grade raffle winner! We loved this fun incentive our school put on for all our TCE families who joined us for curriculum night.

TCE Principal Newsletter

Each week Ms. Martin sends out her Town Center Principal Newsletter. Please make sure to check out all the important campus-wide announcements in the Principal Newsletter.

What we are learning?

Math Workshop -  In Math, learners will use concrete and pictorial models to compose and decompose numbers up to 120 in more than one way. Learners will also work to explain the strategies they used to compose and decompose numbers using the terms ones and tens. Learners will use standard, word, and expanded forms to represent numbers up to 120 and listen to a number to 120 read aloud and represent the number in standard and expanded form.

Reading Workshop -  In Reading, learners will learn how to make connections using the mentor text The Invisible Boy. They will explore connections such as text-to-self, text-to-text, and text-to-world. They will also look at shallow and deep connections within a text.

Yay! We get to go to the Library! Now that the fall book fair is over, please look around and have your child return any library books. It's been two weeks since we have been able to go to the library, and I know they are excited about checking out new books.

Writing Workshop- In writing, learners will study authors and revise and edit their narrative writing.

Social Studies- In Social Studies, learners will continue researching and learning about their historical Americans who wanted to make changes in their communities, states, and country.

Science - In Science, learners will identify and explain a problem and propose a task and solution for the problem.
