What are we learning?
Math Workshop - In Math this week, learners will represent numbers up to 1,200 using standard, expanded, and word forms. Learners will also locate the position of a given number on an open number line and name a whole number that corresponds to a specific point on a number line. They will describe how they decided where to place a given whole number on an open number line. Additionally, we will continue, for the remainder of the year, reviewing and refreshing our addition and subtraction skills with borrowing and regrouping, both in and out of word problems. This is one of the biggest and trickiest skills we learn in second-grade math - we've got this!
Writing Workshop- In Writing Workshop this week, learners will continue in our poetry unit. They will take a look at how metaphors and hyperbole are used in poetry and will write cinquain, haiku, and limerick poems. In Grammar, learners will be introduced to prepositions.

Social Studies - In Social Studies this week, we will be working to create a map of our "own town". We are so excited to see everyone showcase all the map elements we have learned in their "created town".
Science - In Science this week, learners will continue to dig into the weather! Learners will utilize weather data and seasonal information to make choices.
