Terrific Texans
Throughout the week our learners at TCE work hard at going above and beyond! When any teacher catches them standing out for exhibiting our character trait of the week they are awarded a Terrific Texan. At the end of the week, there is a school-wide drawing and 3 winners are chosen from each grade level.

Coppell Cares
Coppell Cares offers the Weekend Backpack Program for families who have financial need. Each Friday, learners receive a bag of snacks for the weekend. The goal of the program is to help eliminate food insecurity for children. They provide nutritious breakfast, lunch, and snack items to eligible CISD children (and siblings). This weekly food program helps feed children over the weekend during the school year when they are not receiving meals at school.

If you would like your child(ren) to participate in this program, please complete the online application below. If you would prefer a paper copy to be sent home with your child, please email TCE's counselor, Kelly Matlock at kmatlock@coppellisd.com. Families may sign up for this program at any time during the school year. Deliveries will begin Friday, September 6th. Deliveries will be suspended for Thanksgiving week, Winter Break, and Spring Break.

  • Ask your child how they can model a division situation such as 15 shared equally into 5 groups is 3 or 15 divided into group of 3 makes 5 equal groups.
  • What is a meteorologist? Why do they measure, record, and graph the temperature and precipitation?
  • After your child reads, ask them to tell you about the main character's internal and external traits.
  • Practicing reading out loud is a GREAT way to build fluency!  Got a shy reader that doesn't like reading in front of an audience?  Let them record themselves on their iPad as they read and listen to it back.
  • We have started our new unit this week over opinion writing! Ask your child what topic they chose and have them tell you why it is important.
  • Working on reading high frequency words fluently is a great way to build reading skills!  Check out the lists we work with and challenge your learner to practice them using these activities!
