Background Checks

If you have not had a chance to fill out a background check please fill one out for yourself or update last year's! Click here to register as a new volunteer or confirm your information from last year. This must be completed every school year for you to volunteer at the school. The district will send you an email when your background check has cleared. Any opportunities for volunteering at the school, including holiday parties, will require a cleared background check. Once completed it lasts for the remainder of the school year.  When you create your account, make sure to click on the add new application button. (see picture below)

What we are learning?

Math Workshop - In Math, learners will read and write time to the nearest one-minute increment using analog and digital clocks and distinguish between a.m. and p.m.

Reading Workshop - In Reading Workshop, learners will connect, compare and contrast information using the mentor text Stellaluna. They will also set individual reading goals. In Phonics, learners will practice spelling words with different endings such as -ing and -ed. Don't forget that our Library Day is Thursday each week! Your child should be checking out 3 books each week - one nonfiction, one "good fit" and one free choice.

Writing Workshop- In Writing Workshop, learners will continue working on their information writing. Learners will be editing, beginning final drafts, adding text features (table of contents and glossary), and an "All About the Author" page.

Social Studies- In Social Studies, learners will be working on what a timeline is as well as the history of Coppell. Learners will be able to describe how people and events have influenced local community history through listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

Science - In Science, learners will be investigating the way heat energy affects objects.
