Coppell ISD Volunteer Background Check

We ask that all parents fill out a background check each year in case they choose to volunteer with us at some point.

Report Card Access
Report cards for Kinder-3rd grade learners are emailed to parents directly and should be received by the end of the day today. If you do not receive your report card by Monday, please contact your child's homeroom teacher. You can also access your child's report card by logging into the Home Access Center HAC. Once logged in, you will click on the picture/word that says "Grades". Once you click on "Grades" you will see a tab labeled "Report Card".

Free Breakfast and Lunch
The Child Nutrition Department is happy to announce that free meals for all in-person elementary students and free bundle meals for virtual learners have been extended through the rest of the 2020-2021 school year. In-person learners are able to go through the cafeteria line as usual and will not be charged for meals (snack food and dessert such as ice cream are available for an additional cost). We are still asking that virtual learners sign up for bundle meals via the Bundle Meal Signup Form to help give an accurate count each week.

Rocks for Science
Next week we will begin to learn about rocks in science. For our activities begininning Tuesday (1/12), students will need a collection of rocks to observe and compare. Please have your student begin hunting for rocks over the weekend that has a variety of sizes, colors, textures, and shapes. If your student is attending in person, please send their rock collection (5-20 rocks) with them in a bag to school on Monday. If your child is virtual, they will need to have access to their rocks for the duration of the week.

Town Center Yearbooks

Our 2020-2021 Town Center Yearbook is now available for purchase. The cost is $25, and they will arrive in the spring. Click here to place your order. **Please note that the yearbook cost is NOT included in the TCE Trail Pass.

What are we learning?

Math: In math, learners will generate and solve problem situations involving the addition and subtraction of whole numbers within 1000. Learners will also continue to solve two and three-digit addition and subtraction problems using a variety of strategies.

If you are looking for additional resources to support your child in practicing addition and subtraction problems at home, please click here to find a folder of practice problems to print for home. Videos for the different strategies taught in class can be found here.

Please check out Greg Tang Math for a word problem generator to support your child with addition and subtraction at home. We are working with numbers from 1-1,000.

Language Arts: In Reading Workshop, learners will practice reading with smooth and expressive voices to build fluency, both while reading aloud and silently. Please remember to keep up with your weekly iStation requirement and your Reading Logs!

In Writing Workshop learners will begin a new unit on Poetry. They will explore the meaning of poems by looking at objects with a poet's eye and noticing line breaks.

Science: In science, learners will observe, describe, and compare rocks by size, texture, and color. Learners will also ask questions about objects and events during investigations.

Social Studies: In Social Studies we will begin our unit on Maps. Learners will work on a Keynote presentation throughout the week as they construct knowledge of maps and globes.
