January 28th - February 1st

What are we learning?

Math: In math this week, learners will begin to represent numbers up to 1,200 in standard, expanded and word forms.

If you are looking for resources to support and review with your child at home in practicing addition and subtraction problems, please click here to find a folder of practice problems to print for home. Videos for the different strategies taught in class can be found here. Please check out Greg Tang Math for a word problem generator to support your child with addition and subtraction word problems at home. We are working with numbers from 1-1,000.

Reading: In reading workshop this week, learners will look at Author's Purpose and continue with playful language. In writing workshop, learners will begin opinion/persuasive writing. They will also practice spelling words that contain oa/ow patterns, and continue with cursive handwriting.

Science: In science this week, learners will continue to measure, record, and graph weather information. Our focus has been on wind conditions with fun experiments from resources such as Mystery Science. We will continue taking a deeper look at cloud coverage and precipitation.

Social Studies: In social studies this week, learners will be able to research a historical figure who has shown good citizenship and present their findings.
