August 20th - 24th

Welcome second-grade families! Thank you for taking the time to read our second-grade blog. Make sure you are checking weekly for calendar updates, what we are a learning and a glimpse into our week with pictures.

What are we learning?

Math: In math this week, learners will work to get to know one another through creating surveys and graphs of their peers' likes and interests.

Reading: In reading this week, we will look at character traits by using the mentor texts Stand Tall Molly Lou Melon and Spaghetti in a Hot Dog Bun. We will also compare the characters of both texts and write reflections in our journals.

Science: In science this week, we will discuss what it means to be a safe scientist and set up our science journals.

Social Studies: In social studies this week, we will continue to establish our classroom communities and learn about our peers (community members).

Character at TCE

This week (August 15th-18th) we discussed what it means to be kind, how to treat others and what it looks like to include those who may feel invisible. Talk with your child about some of the ways they plan on making an impact this year through acts of kindness.

Check out our week!
