Terrific Texans
Throughout the week our learners at TCE work hard at going above and beyond! When any teacher catches them standing out for exhibiting our character trait of the week they are awarded a Terrific Texan. At the end of the week, there is a school-wide drawing and 3 winners are chosen from each grade level.
CISD Family/Schools Relationships Survey Due by May 16th
Each semester, CISD surveys our families on their relationships with their child’s school. The Spring 2025 Family/Schools Relationship Survey is open now through Friday, May 16th. To participate, visit go.coppellisd.com/Spring25FamilySurvey, then select your child(ren)’s school. If you have multiple children in CISD, we ask that you take the survey for each school your child attends in order for the schools to have feedback that is specific to them. Campus administrators are able to view the data from each parent survey, along with district administrators.
Please email input@coppellisd.com, if you would like to share any additional feedback or insight not covered in the survey or have any additional comments to share with the district.
Coppell Cares
Coppell Cares offers the Weekend Backpack Program for families who have financial need. Each Friday, learners receive a bag of snacks for the weekend. The goal of the program is to help eliminate food insecurity for children. They provide nutritious breakfast, lunch, and snack items to eligible CISD children (and siblings). This weekly food program helps feed children over the weekend during the school year when they are not receiving meals at school.
If you would like your child(ren) to participate in this program, please complete the online application below. If you would prefer a paper copy to be sent home with your child, please email TCE's counselor, Kelly Matlock at kmatlock@coppellisd.com. Families may sign up for this program at any time during the school year. Deliveries will begin Friday, September 6th. Deliveries will be suspended for Thanksgiving week, Winter Break, and Spring Break.

We are excited to have so many of our learners that have been out sick back at school. We'd love to meet our campus attendance goal of 97%, and we will keep you all updated weekly on our progress. As a reminder, if your child is sick, we want them to stay home and rest. Our district attendance policy states, "Students must be free of fever, vomiting, and/or diarrhea for 24 hours without the use of medication before returning to school.” Otherwise, we'd love to have them at school in order to maximize their instructional time with teachers and make the most of their school days. If your child does need to miss school due to being sick, please reach out to your child's teacher to find out what work they need to make up.
Math Workshop - In math workshop, learners will dive into the world of financial literacy. In this unit, learners will calculate how money saved can accumulate into a larger amount over time, explain that saving is an alternative to spending, tell the difference between a deposit and a withdrawal, identify examples of borrowing and lending, and calculate the cost to produce a simple item.
Reading Workshop - Did you know? 2nd grade readers learned how to checkout eBooks and audiobooks this week! That means they can use our library databases through MackinVia all summer long to build literacy skills. Ask your child how to show you what is in their MackinVia backpack!
Writing Workshop - In Writing, we are continuing to publish our animal research projects.
Social Studies - In Social Studies, learners are on a mind mission! They are using their economic skills to help Chip the Chipmunk with his new acorn business.
Science - In Science, learners will wrap up our unit on life cycles, watching our butterflies emerge and releasing them into our TCE garden!
- Ask your child to share the difference between area and perimeter. How do they determine the area of a rectangle? How do they find the perimeter of a shape?
- Ask your child what the word estimate means. How did they use estimating in measurement this week?
- Tell me the steps in complete metamorphosis? What stage is your butterfly/caterpillar currently in?
- Ask your child what progress they have made with their writing projects.
- How do businesses use jingles?
- Ask your child to listen to an audiobook with you!
