Terrific Texans
Throughout the week our learners at TCE work hard at going above and beyond! When any teacher catches them standing out in a positive way they are awarded a Terrific Texan. At the end of the week, there is a school-wide drawing and 3 winners are chosen from each grade level.

Background Checks

We ask that all families complete a volunteer background check at the start of the year. They do not carry over from year to year. Since the background checks take time to process, we ask that everyone complete one in case any type of volunteering opportunity (class field trip, Dad's Club, Room parent, class volunteer, field day, etc.) arises during the year that you are interested in. Tennis Shoes for PE & Extended Specials Day (CTT)

Red folders have a schedule of your child's specials rotation. Please help ensure your child wears appropriate shoes on PE days and Move & Groove (Fridays). Additionally, every other Tuesday second grade has extended specials during CTT. The dates are outlined for the remainder of the year below. Thank you for your help in making sure your child is safely dressed for the gym!

2nd Grade CTT Dates for 2024: September 3rd, September 17th, October 1st, October 15th, October 29th, November 12th, December 3rd, December 17th.

What are we learning?

Math Workshop - In Math, learners will launch into 2nd grade math! Learners will review and work on determining ten more or ten less and comparing numbers to 120.

Reading Workshop - In Reading, learners will learn how to find a "just right" book, visit the TCE library as 2nd graders for the first time, and build their reading stamina.

Writing Workshop- In writing, learners will begin creating their writing journals, using mentor texts to spark ideas.

Social Studies- In Social Studies, learners will identify characteristics of good citizenship.

Science- In Science, learners will start exploring with inquiry and scientific processes.
