2nd Grade Announcements

  • 2nd Grade Field Trip - Second Grade will be going on a field trip to KidZania on Tuesday, April 11th. The learners will explore immersive hands-on, real-world jobs in diverse fields that align with our second-grade TEKS. This field trip will allow our second graders to engage in role-play and participate in realistic experiences.
We will be leaving school around 9:00 AM. We won't be arriving back to school until around 2:00 PM. Lunch will be provided by KidZania and will consist of 2 slices of cheese pizza from Pie5, apple slices, and a choice of juice or water per student.

The cost of the field trip is $19.00 including admission to KidZania and lunch. The attached permission slip needs to be signed and returned with cash only by Friday, March 31st. All parts of the permission slip need to be filled out for your child to participate in our field trip. We ask that you send exactly $19.00, as change will not be given.

KidZania is limiting the number of chaperones to a total of 15 (5 per class). If you would like to chaperone, please email your child's homeroom teacher by Friday, March 10th. If we have more interest than the number of chaperone spots available, we will be doing a drawing. The cost of a chaperone's admission to KidZania is $10.00, but please do not send in your money until you have been notified that you will be chaperoning. You will need to take your own car or carpool to KidZania. If you are planning on chaperoning, please remember that younger siblings are not able to attend the field trip with us. If you have any questions, please contact your child's homeroom teacher. All chaperones MUST have a CISD Background Check for the 2022-2023 school year filled out no later than Friday, March 24th to chaperone.

  • Spring Book Fair Volunteers - We are looking forward to our Spring Scholastic Book Fair on March 6th-10th! PTO is in need of volunteers who can help during the 1-2 hour shifts. Please sign-up if you are available. Thank you! TCE PTO
As a reminder, you must have a CISD Background Check on file for the 2022-2023 school year in order to volunteer at the Book Fair.

  • Yearbook Photos  - TCE PTO is looking for your help in gathering photos for the Town Center Yearbook! They've set up an easy process for you to share your images from different campus or classroom events. We would love for all families to contribute their images so we can make sure we have equal representation from all grade levels and classrooms! Please use the following step-by-step directions to document or video to create a Lifetouch account and begin uploading your images now. Thank you!

What are we learning?

Math Workshop - In Math this week, learners will model, create, and describe contextual division situations in which a set of concrete objects is separated into equivalent sets. Learners will listen to a division situation read aloud and create a corresponding model.

Parent Resource Link - Modeling, Creating, and Describing Contextualized Division Situations

Reading Workshop - In Reading Workshop this week, learners will decide the main purpose of a text by using the mentor book Looking at Lincoln. They will also take their March Station assessment.

Writing Workshop- In Writing Workshop this week, learners will continue working on their narrative writing and revisit skills such as writing a strong introduction, adding details to their main events, and a conclusion. In Grammar, we will review. synonyms and antonyms.

Social Studies - In Social Studies this week, learners will identify ways to conserve and replenish Earth's resources.

Science - In Science this week, learners will identify the parts of a variety of animals and describe the purpose they serve.

We are collecting empty paper towels and toilet paper rolls for upcoming projects in science. We would love to have your recycled cardboard rolls as you use these items at home!
