Important Reminders

For Virtual Students:
-Please remember that all work must be completed on the day it was assigned prior to 11:59 p.m. (central time) to receive credit.
-Please be sure your child is participating in the specials courses as well as the core subject areas!
-Please make sure your child is completing their work independently to the best of their ability. It is important to see where they're at academically to support their individual academic needs.

For Face to Face Students:
-Please send your iPad to school each day fully charged!
-Please remember a snack and a full water bottle every day!
-Please put names in jackets and sweaters as the weather cools down!

Library Curbside Pickup
Library Curbside will begin next Wednesday, 9/16 for our Virtual Learners (VLs). VLs are encouraged to put books on hold in Destiny (limit 2). Once books are pulled and checked out, I will send an email to the VL and parent(s) notifying them that their holds are ready to pick up. It is important to note that Destiny may say that the books are ready, however, that does not mean Mrs. Mancuso has pulled the books from the shelf and checked them out. Please wait until you have received a confirmation email from Mrs. Mancuso with the next curbside date.

TCE Curbside Pickup will be on Wednesday's from 11:00-12:30pm in the Front Loop. Library books will be quarantined for 7 days before they are checked in and removed from the account.

If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Mancuso at kmancuso@coppellisd.com.

Week at a Glance
Now that we've had four weeks of virtual instruction, practicing both using the Schoology calendar and the completion checkmarks in Schoology, we're going to begin to simplify the week at a glance. You'll still find the week of glance linked here with the live times for all core content areas. The main difference is that we will not longer outline the assignments. We will continue to use the Completion Checkmarks in Schoology. This will be completely updated and ready for next week by Sunday evening!

What are we learning?

Math: This week learners will use standard, word, and expanded forms to represent numbers up to 100.

Language Arts: In Reading Workshop we will continue with "tricky word" strategies. Be sure that you are reading in a "good fit" book so that you can practice! In Writing Workshop, we will explore ways to make our writing even more powerful by using figurative language and synonyms. We will also be using the CUPS model to edit our writing.

Science: This week learners will predict how physical changes affect objects, such as heating and cooling as well as predict which physical changes go backward to get back to the original state.

Social Studies: In Social Studies, we will begin our research on our Historical Figures. We will be recording our findings in our digital Keynote journal that you downloaded last week.

Curriculum Night

Thank you so much for attending our first every Virtual Curriculum Night! We loved getting to connect with you and give you a glimpse into the exciting year ahead. If you were not able to make it, you can access the presentation and recording in each of the Parent Information Folder in your child's Schoology courses.

Curriculum Night Questions
Will my child's iPad travel back and forth to school if they are returning face to face?
Yes, your child's iPad will need to come to school each day charged if attending face to face. They will go home each afternoon in your child's backpack. We encourage you to keep your child's charger in their backpack in case they need to charge their device at any point during the day.

What are the benefits of using a Parent Schoology Account vs. looking through my child's account?
If you have more than one child attending a CISD school, you're able to see all of your children in once place without logging in/out. Additionally, you will only see your child's comments, discussions, etc. keeping a more streamlined view.

Week at a Glance
We have updated our week at a glance for this upcoming week with assignments and zoom times. You will notice that we have created a section specific tab (2A, 2B, 2C, 2D) at the bottom of our google sheet since our specials LIVE times are more fluid this week. In addition to this being in the blog, we will have these housed in your child's homeroom hub as well.

2A Mrs. Trueblood: Homeroom Hub - Language & Literacy
2B Mrs. Bowman: Homeroom Hub - Math
2C Mrs. Judd: Homeroom Hub - Language & Literacy
2D Miss Lewis: Homeroom Hub - Math

What are we learning?

Math: This week learners will recall basic facts to add and subtract within 20 with automaticity.

Language Arts: In Reading Workshop this week, we will explore metacognition and ways to keep track of your thoughts during reading. We will also begin to look at what to do when you find a tricky word. In Writing Workshop, we will set goals as writers, and work on some editing and revising skills.

Science: This week learners will demonstrate different types of physical changes to objects such as cutting, folding, or sanding.

Social Studies: We will begin our unit on Historical Figures. We will research men and women who influenced our nation, exhibited inventiveness, and exemplified good citizenship.
